Career
Stafford is a product of Highland Park High School. His high school coach was famous NFL coach Randy Allen. Stafford led his high school football team to win the UIL Division I State Championship in 2005. Stafford then enrolled at the University of Georgia.
He did incredibly well as a player for the Bulldogs between 2006 and 2008. His brilliant performances led the Detroit Lions to draft him as their first overall NFL draft in 2009. He played for the Lions on his draft contract for about eight seasons, until 2017 when he signed a contract extension worth $135-million. At the time, the contract made Stafford the highest-paid NFL player in history. In 2021, the Lions traded him to the Rams for Jared Goff. Stafford remained their player as of that year.
Records & Achievements
Stafford has done incredibly well in his football career. His achievements include being the first player in NFL’s history to reach 40,000 yards by playing only 147 games. As of 2020, he was the only player to record eight comeback wins in one season. He was the 2009 Capital One Bowl MVP and was named in the 2008 All-America team.
