Personal Life
Mickey Leroy Gilley was the son of Irene and Arthur Gilley. He was also the cousin of Jerry Lee Lewis. In 1953, he made Geraldine Garrett his wife but the marriage lasted for about eight years. In the following year, he married Vivian McDonald but she passed on in 2019.
Career
He finally had a breakthrough after struggling in music. He started a nightclub which was his first in 1970. He went on to record the track “Room Full of Roses”. The track was a hit even though he put it together only for fun. After realizing the constant changes in the music scene, he decided to follow suit and also do changes to his style as well. Songs like “Bring It On Home To Me”, “Fool For Your Love”, “True Love Always” and "You Don’t Know Me” which he recorded and released all became hits.
Trivia
His nightclub was used in the movie “Urban Cowboy” especially the part with the mechanical bull.
Health Challenge
In 2009, he got injured and paralyzed.
