Millie Small was a Jamaican singer who had been professionally active since the age of 14 years old – her heyday was in the 1960s. During that era, she dropped her rendition of “My Boy Lollipop”, the song that actually put the now-ubiquitous Island Records on the map.
She released three albums between 1964 and 1970.

Her daughter, Jaelee Small, also went on to become a professional singer.

At 12 years old Small was able to win a popular talent contest called “Vere Johns Opportunity Hour”.
Her version of “My Boy Lollipop” was released in 1964. It went on to score a number 2 in the US on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Cash Box Top 100 in addition to achieving a similar feat on the UK Singles Chart, Kent Music Report and Canada Top Singles. Moreover, it actually topped the singles' chart in Ireland.
