About Peter Forsberg
Peter Forsberg started his professional career in his native country, Sweden as a member of the Modo Hockey team. After a year of impressive performance with the side, he joined the NHL in 1991 after he was signed by the Philadelphia Flyers. However, he made his league debut four years later with the Quebec Nordiques after he was used in an exchange deal for Eric Lindros
Throughout his 13 years in the league, Forsberg who usually played at the Centre position, featured for other renowned teams like the Nashville Predators, and Colorado Avalanche. While with the latter, he won the Stanley Cup twice. Known for his physical play and excellent vision, he’s considered as one of the competition’s all-time best players.
International career
Before joining the senior side, Forsberg played for the Swedish under-18 team. He was the top scorer at the European Junior Championships in 1991. After a number of impressive performances at the junior level, he helped his country to win gold at the 1994 Winter Olympics.
He also played in other major international tournaments like the World Cup of Hockey, and the Ice Hockey World Championships.
Other businesses
In 2011, he joined his former team, Modo Hockey, as its deputy general manager. Aside from that, he has also invested in other businesses. He’s known to be one of the owners of the Swedish airline Nextjet. He has also partnered with the American company Crocs.
Family
At a stage in his career, he was trained by his dad Kent Forsberg. His children with Nicole Nordin are called Lennox and Lily.
Achievements
In 2003, he won the Hart Memorial Trophy. His name has been included in both the Hockey Hall of Fame and the IIHF Hall of Fame.
