Early Years
He obtained a basketball scholarship from University of Southern California while attending Kent High School, where he was twice named captain of the basketball and baseball teams. He participated in football and basketball while attending USC.
Career
The sportsman signed with the St. Louis Browns and debuted in 1929. After two years, he transferred to the New York Giants. He took over as player-coach of the Syracuse Braves to start the 1936 campaign, but he left after three games. He served as an assistant coach at Columbia University from 1939–42 and the University of Washington from 1946–53.
From 1954 until his retirement in 1969, he worked for the Washington State Department of Agriculture.
