About Siân Phillips
Siân Phillips is the professional alias of Dame Jane Elizabeth Ailwen Phillips, a Welsh actress. She was just 11 years old when she made her professional acting debut through BBC Radio Wales. She established a career in theatre through her membership of the BBC Repertory Company in the first half of the 1950s. From 1958 onwards, her screen career took off. She has since become known for screen roles such as Livia in the series “I, Claudius” and Ursula Mossbank in the American musical film, “Goodbye, Mr. Chips” and for her titular roles in the stage plays “Saint Joan” and “Hedda Gabler”.
Family Life
Her father, David Phillips was a steelworker and her mother, Sally Thomas was a teacher. She is the niece of Welsh revival evangelist Rosina Davies. She is a three-time divorcee and has two children including actress Kate O’Toole. Actors Peter O’Toole and Robin Sachs were amongst her ex-husbands.
Achievements
She has been awarded by the National Society of Film Critics, Royal Television Society and BAFTA TV Awards.

She published the autobiographies “Public Places” and “Private Faces”.
