About William Bradford
William Bradford was in his pre-teen years when he got introduced to the Puritan separatist ideology through the teachings of Rev. Richard Clayton. Before he turned eighteen, he got into trouble for his association with the Puritan separatists as the group were arrested and thrown into prison for a short while in 1607 for their attempt to illegally escape from the religious-intolerant England to the Dutch Republic. They eventually succeeded in 1608. In 1620, Bradford moved to the Plymouth Colony where he served as the 2nd, 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th governor between 1621 and 1657.
