About Audie Murphy
History
At an early age of 19, Audie Murphy was already known as one of the bravest and most resilient soldiers during World War II. His most known feat was during the January 1945 Colmar Pocket skirmish in the Vosges Mountains, where he single-handedly fended off a company of advancing soldiers atop a wrecked tank destroyer, using up all available ammunition during the ordeal. After successfully standing his ground, he rejoined his troops to launch counterattack, which was equally successful.
Post-War
Murphy pursued a career in acting which would last for 21 years, including a film where he starred as himself (1955’s To Hell and Back).
