About Bennie Benjamin
Bennie Benjamin was a prolific songwriter who achieved great success in the 20th century. As a youngster, he had a strong desire for ministry, but his parents could not pay for seminary tuition, so he was obliged to give up his early dreams of becoming a priest and pursuing a music career
Bennie signed a deal with the Chappell Music Company in 1938 when he first began working as a professional songwriter. Subsequently, he had a fruitful ten-year partnership with George David Weiss. Through that period, he wrote several popular songs, including "Surrender," "The Wheel of Fortune," "I'll Never Be Free," "Rumors are Flying," "Oh What It Seemed It Be".
Famous vocalists, including Perry Como, Kay Starr, and Frank Sinatra, have all sung his tunes.
