About Ichizo Kobayashi
After his 14 years work with Mitsui Bank, Ichizo Kobayashi established the Hankyu Hanshin Holdings, Inc. (formerly known as Mino-o Arima Electric Railway Company) in 1907. The company is globally known for their innovations in the railway sector. As of the end of January 2022, the company had over 2,300 workers.
His love for entertainment informed his decision to establish a musical troupe known as the Takarazuka Revue in 1913. The Japanese business executive also founded a film and theatre production company in 1932 called Toho Co., Ltd.
Other works
In 1940, he was named as the Minister for Commerce and Industry. Prior to that, he worked for the Tokyo Gasu Denki Kōgyō manufacturing company. In 1951, after the Second World War, he was made the head of the newly-formed War Damage Rehabilitation Institute.
