About Larry Tesler
Lawrence Gordon Tesler, simply recognized as Larry Tesler, was a renowned American computer scientist who played a significant role in the specialized aspect of human–computer interaction.
He is noted to have worked at Amazon, Apple, Xerox PARC and web service provider, Yahoo!.
He attended Stanford University during the 1960s and specialized in computer science. While he was at Stanford, he engaged in some programming works alongside school.
In 1973, he accepted a job offer from Palo Alto Research Center (PARC). In 1980, he left Xerox PARC to join Apple.
While he was at Apple he held several positions which included the Vice President of AppleNet, Chief Scientist and Vice President of the Advanced Technology Group. He left Apple in 1997.
Achievements
He along with Tim Mott developed the remarkable idea of the “copy and paste” function and also the initiative for the modeless software.
Death
He died on February 17, 2020 at the age of 74 years old.
Trivia
He customized his California license plate to read "NO MODES". He used the quote “Don't Mode Me In” on several occasions as a cry to reduce or eliminate modes.
