Steve Carell is an American actor and comedian. He is one of the few American comedians that has been nominated for an Academy Award in a dramatic role, which includes an Academy Award nomination for his performance in the 2014 sport drama thriller film “Foxcatcher”.
Family and Education
He was born to Edwin A. Carell and Harriet Theresa Koch. Carell studied at Nashoba Brooks School, Middlesex and Denison University.
The Golden Globe Award nominee exchanged wedding vows with Nancy Walls in 1995 and together they have two children.

Beginning his career in 1989, the American-born actor appeared in television commercials like the “Brown’s Chicken” commercial. Few years later, he made his screen debut in “Curly Sue”, a 1991 American drama film written and directed by John Hughes.
Other major films that he has appeared in include: "Foxcatcher" (2014), "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" (2005), "Crazy, Stupid, Love" (2011), "Get Smart" (2008) and "Date Night"(2008). In “Foxcatcher”, he appeared alongside actors like Vanessa Redgrave, Anthony Michael Hall and Mark Ruffalo. He gained a Golden Globe Award nomination due to his impressive performance in the film.
Carell made his first debut in television series in 1996, starring Dana Carvey’s “Dana Carvey’s Show”. He was featured in about six episodes of the series and he also co-wrote one episode.
His other television featured series are "The Office" (149 episodes), "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" (277 episodes), “Angie Tribeca” (40 episodes) and “Watching Ellie” (16 episodes). The third mentioned series was written by Steve Carell and his wife and it was produced from 2016 to 2018.
The veteran actor appears in Wes Anderson’s 2023 romantic comedy drama film “Asteroid City”, which includes actors like Tilda Swinton, Tom Hanks and Jeffrey Wright.
