Early Life and Education
Badawi lived her early life in Sudan before immigrating to London. She was enrolled and graduated from the Hornsey High School for Girls and later graduated from the University of London in 1989 after graduating from the University of Oxford.
Career
The journalist researched after graduating from Oxford University and later became a broadcaster for Yorkshire TV from 1982 to 1986. Badawi later joined Channel 4 News from 1989 until 1998 while she worked with BBC. At BBC, the journalist worked as a radio presenter and also worked as a presenter of the BBC world tour in 2005.

Badawi was a mother of 4 children as of 2021.
Awards
She won the "Personality of the Year" award at the 2009 media excellence awards organized by the Association for International Broadcasting.
The journalist also won the President's Medal of the British Academy in 2018.
