About Yves Klein
Many records have indicated that French artist Yves Klein began his career at the age of 19 years. After a series of eye-catching works, he hosted his maiden private exhibition in 1950. He was widely considered as one of the pioneers of the Nouveau réalisme movement which was established in 1960. He was also credited for promoting the pop and minimal art movements.
Some of his popular arts were titled “The Void”, “RE 46” and “Sculpture Éponge Bleue Sans Titre”. He was best known for his artist’s book titled “Zone de Sensibilité Picturale Immatérielle” which was created in 1959.
Family
He followed in the footsteps of his parents Marie Raymond and Fred Klein, who both worked as painters. He was married to Rotraut Klein-Moquay, and had a child called Yves Amu Klein.
Education
He had his education at École Nationale des Langues Orientales, and the École Nationale de la Marine Marchande.
Facts
He was a judo expert and published a book about the sport titled “Les Fondements du judo”.
One of his paintings named “RE I” was purchased at $6,716,000 in 2000.
